Since the festive season is now in full swing, I thought I would share my party makeup essentials for the perfect party makeup look. Although day to day I am a tinted moisturiser kind of girl with a little mascara for some good measure, when it comes to a party I think it’s a great excuse to indulge in a little shimmer on the eyes and a little splash of colour in the lip and nail department. A look that is a little more polished and glam for the evening yet still maintaining that natural beauty kind of look (well a girl can dream right?!). What is important to me though is making sure that any look I do is nice an quick. Nobody has time to hang about when there is lots of mingling and dancing to do!
Firstly you need to prep your skin properly for makeup and ensure it is suitably moisturised so that your foundation sits comfortably on your skin rather than clinging to any pesky dry patches. Then it’s time to crack out the beautiful Le Blanc de Chanel. This should be in everyones party makeup bag. Le Blanc de Chanel is a gorgeous pearly illuminating base that gives you that gorgeous lit from within glow.
Becca Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone
Now if there was an excuse for highlighter, the festive season is definitely the perfect time! My favourite all bells and whistles highlighter is the Becca Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone. It is absolutely beautiful and is a firm favourite with many beauty bloggers and for good reason. It really packs a punch in terms of glow but in a really beautiful and natural way. You won’t see any chunks of glitter all over your face with this highlighter which is lovely but you certainly won’t be disappointed in terms of its highlighting performance.
Lips
I have a few go to options for this. Revlon’s Color Stay Moisture Stain in two gorgeous shades. The first is Barcelona Nights which is a gorgeous bright blue toned pinky red and the second is a true festive red called Shanghai Sizzle. For a nude option, Rosie for Autograph’s Lip Glossy in Super Model Smile is wonderful. A beautiful dusky pink nude. What I love about these lip products is that they all last well which is a must when sipping champagne and laughing with friends and family over the festive season and are yet super comfortable to wear.
For nails, you can’t beat a bright shimmery colour for the party season and I have recently fallen head over heels in love with Autograph’s nail polish in Cranberry. Firstly the name of this product is adorable and suitably festive and it is a lovely blue toned deep pink colour. It glides on beautifully and is opaque in just two coats and lasts really well paired with a good base coat and top coat such as those from Seche Vite.
Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray
This is an oldie but a goodie in my makeup bag and comes out without fail every party season. A little spritz of Urban Decay’s All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray all all over your face and you are good to go in the knowledge that it will hold your makeup in place all night. I used this on my wedding day as well and it did the most wonderful job. No panda eyes or disappearing foundation here. If you like me are also not the biggest fan of powder, this little gem of a product is a must have to set your makeup. You must give it a try if you haven’t done so already. I think you may just fall in love with it too.
What are your favourite party essentials? I would love to know.
