Life is such a whirl wind? Giving birth to my gorgeous little girl Everly, has reaffirmed this realisation even more so. It feels like only yesterday that I found out I was pregnant and yet almost a year has already gone by since Everly was born! She is now 10 months old! Where has the time gone! Since becoming a mummy I have found myself reflecting more and more and although it can often be scary to look back and evaluate past events or choices there are many positives to self reflection which I thought I would share with you that can help you become the best version of yourself. I am by no means perfect and believe you are constantly on a journey of self discovery and fulfilment but by using the below steps I believe I have made positive changes to become the best version of myself so that I can be the best mummy, wife and friend. I hope you find these steps helpful so you can be confident in yourself, decisions and your life journey.

1. Look Back Upon Memories

Looking back on memories can evoke a range of emotions from happy to sad but ultimately these experiences not only shape your thoughts and opinions but can be a stepping stone to show you the way for your next adventure. Reflecting on memories can help you to assess what went well in a certain situation, what you would have changed given the opportunity and most importantly how you would improve on the situation or grow as a person. For me, looking back on memories and experiences has shown me the kind of person I would like to be. I want to be the best mummy I can be to Everly and any future children by being 100% present in their lives and be their for every moment. I also want to fulfil my goals and dreams and be successful to show them that they can too follow their dreams and accomplish anything they put their mind too.

2. Live in the Moment

It is easy to get caught up in the business of day to day and worrying about what life holds but it is important to live in the moment and to appreciate the experiences you are currently encountering . The last couple of years for me have been packed with highs such as the birth of our beautiful little girl Everly as well as a few lows with family losses.  It has taught me that life is precious and changes second by second so making sure you are present to enjoy the ride is vital. Both negative and happy moments shape who you are and the life you have so cherish each experience as it helps you to determine which path to take next. Life is a never ending journey and it is never too late to reach or change your goals. Living in the moment helps you to appreciate just how far you have come and the breadth of experiences still open to you.

3. Determine Your Next Steps

Whilst evaluating your own thoughts, feelings and behaviour is often met with anxiety and fear of failure, it can help you to determine how to grow as a person through highlighting what went ‘wrong’, what went ‘right’ and what you would improve upon to reach the next stepping stone in your life long journey. It is never too late to make changes and to improve upon a situation. Ultimately, you are the only person in control of your life and that can change your situation, your mental well being and reach your goals so go for it.

Don’t let the fear of failure hold you back and keep you from playing the game. You never know where your journey will take you. Believe in yourself 100% and you may just be surprised.

4. Don’t Compare Yourself to Others

I am still trying to crack this one myself. I often find that I compare myself to others but I am trying very hard not to.  Everyone is unique and has their own insecurities but with social media, trying not to compare yourself is much more tricky. However, you wouldn’t say cruel or mean things to a friend or stranger so give yourself a break and stop ridiculing yourself.  Accept and love yourself for who you are and focus on what would make you happy. Only you are in control of your own life and happiness.

Let me know in the comments any tips you use to become the best versions of yourselves.

Love
